Benefits of the Project
National benefits
Keadby Next Generation Power Station would contribute to the decarbonisation of the electricity grid. While the supply chain for hydrogen has greenhouse gas emissions associated with it, being hydrogen-ready would greatly reduce the project’s direct emissions in the long-term.
By being able to use natural gas or hydrogen, the project would be able to operate sooner to support the UK's energy security, providing on-demand power for when the wind isn’t blowing and the sun isn’t shining.
Local benefits
During construction, around 800 full time jobs would be created from the site and supply chain, benefiting the local area. Additionally, SSE are looking to deliver skills and education programmes and events for the local community.

Working with the local community
SSE are committed to working with the local community throughout the design, construction and operation of the project.
We want to continue to support the communities around our sites and make a positive contribution to people’s lives. As part of our ongoing commitment to working with our communities, we have previously launched our Community Investment Package.
More information can be found on the package here.
